Loft
We have decided to have the very dated spiral staircase replaced leading up to the loft…WOO HOO!..at long last! A man has been to measure up (he didn’t think there was anything wrong with the one we have) and we are awaiting the quote which will probably end up being uber expensive and I will pout because we won’t be able to afford it. He was telling me all about the staircases which he had made with some having hearts cut into the metalwork, he was very excited about them and I just stood there nodding and saying “oh really”…lovely I’m sure.

It was pointed out to me recently that I had a stairs fetish, I think they may be right. I came across a great site called Stair Porn and I was positively drooling.

…loving the graphic black and white simplicity of these…

…these below are just beyond delicious!!!…

…and the white beauties below are what I would LOVE to have in our apartment, they look like they are floating…heavenly!

I’ve bought an angle grinder! Why would I buy such a dangerous big boys toy you may ask!? Well I finally decided to get rid of the metalwork in the loft! I have never liked it since first seeing it when viewing the flat and it was only a matter of time until I bit the bullet and attacked it. It was far too high and imposing and now the space looks so much bigger. It had to go anyway to make my life easier for putting the new flooring down, unfortunately I’ve realised that the the whole floor has to be covered with hardboard first. I will probably at some point be putting something back because of safety issues, I don’t want to fly off the edge while sat in one of my Eames swivel chairs!!! I have considered glass or very minimal metalwork to match downstairs and eventually the spiral staircase will be replaced with another one but that will have to wait what with a new sofa coming soon…

I have been painting the spiral staircase which leads up to the loft….OMG it takes forever and it will need 2 coats! Eventually it will be ripped out and replaced with another one but for now we will have to make do with a paint job ( I don’t like it and it has seen better days, it actually isn’t made that well). The grey paint matches the flooring I’m having very well.

These cupboards called Naked Line have inspired me, I really like the colour combination of the orange and grey and I think I may try it out on the Aspvik unit I recently bought from IKEA for my loft. Sage green and grey would look good, now where did I put that spray paint?………Via Design Milk
